Spokane Youth Symphony

Concert Details:

Featuring the four orchestras of the Spokane Youth Symphony: Spokane Youth Symphony Orchestra (Dr. Philip Baldwin, conductor), Spokane Youth Philharmonic (Dr. Roberta Bottelli, conductor), Spokane Youth Sinfonietta (Ms. Heather Montgomery, conductor), and Spokane Youth Strings (Dr. John Marshall, conductor) will perform.

Shakespeare and the traditions of folk song inspired three of England’s greatest 20th century composers.  Frederick Delius’ “Walk to the Paradise Garden” captures the romantic love between Romeo and Juliette, while Walton’s suite depicts the medieval splendor of Richard III’s coronation which Shakespeare made famous in the lines “Now is the winter of our discontent/Made glorious summer by this son of York”.  Vaughan Williams captures the sentiment and flavor of Welsh folk song in his beloved setting of “Rhosymedre”.
