entrance auditions

Every student who participates in the Spokane Youth Symphony program must perform an entrance audition for the conductor of the orchestra in which they hope to participate. Typically, entrance auditions take place in early June and September for the coming September-May rehearsal/concert season. Only students new to the program or returning students who wish to move up to a more advanced orchestras need to audition. Returning students who wish to remain in the same orchestra do not need to take an entrance audition. A schedule for audition time sign-up will be posted on this website one to two months prior to the entrance auditions.

Students need to prepare the repertoire listed for their instrument on the page of audition requirements for that orchestra. They need to come to the audition location (which will be posted prior to auditions) no later than 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time in order to check in. The student or parent will fill out a brief form that will be to the conductor. The student will then perform the required music for the conductor/assistant.
