The 2017 SYS Day Camp at HNMC will be two fun-filled days of orchestra and chamber music playing and activities for members of the Spokane Youth Strings and the Spokane Youth Sinfonietta. Camp conductors will be Ms. Heather Montgomery and Dr. John Marshall.
Members of the Spokane Symphony will coach sectionals and chamber groups.
Students will have the opportunity to brush up on their orchestra playing and be introduced to chamber music. They will also enjoy getting better acquainted with members of their orchestra and students new to SYS. For further information please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
SYS Summer Camps
2017 Sensational Summer Music Festival

The SYS Sensational Summer Music Festival is now in its 18th summer. SSMF is a four-day camp for members of the
Spokane Youth Symphony Orchestra and Spokane Youth Philharmonic. Students interested in auditioning in the fall are also welcome to attend. (Prior participation in SYS is NOT required to participate in this camp. If new to our orchestras, please provide a recommendation from your private teacher or school music teacher.)
The music director for SSMF is SYS Artistic Director, Dr. Philip Baldwin with the assistance of Philharmonic conductor, Dr. Roberta Bottelli. Students will participate in daily orchestra rehearsals as well as sectionals, led by professional musicians from the Spokane Symphony Orchestra. The camp concert will take place in the Cathedral of St. John’s on Thursday, July 27th at 6 p.m. following a picnic dinner on the Cathedral grounds with family members.

2017 Strings Chamber Camp

Strings Chamber Camp Fee: $60 Note: Strings Chamber participants must also be enrolled in the 2017 Sensational Summer
Music Festival orchestra camp. There is a separate application and fee that must be submitted for each camp. The Strings Chamber Camp is designed for current members of the Spokane Youth Symphony Orchestra and Spokane Youth Philharmonic. The purpose of the camp is to bring together devoted string students who wish to learn and study great chamber music literature.
Students will spend Sunday evening, July 23rd and Monday through Wednesday mornings, August 8-10 learning and rehearsing chamber music, culminating with a performance on Thursday, July 27th in the Cathedral. All groups will
receive daily coaching. Coaches will be Dr. Philip Baldwin, Dr. Roberta Bottelli, and members of the Spokane String Quartet.
Preference is given to pre-formed groups and more experienced members of the Spokane Youth Symphony Orchestra. Participation is limited to no more than 20 participants.
