SPOKANE YOUTH SYMPHONY

ORCHESTRA HANDBOOK FOR THE 2008-2009 SEASON

The Spokane Youth Symphony is a nonprofit, charitable organization, whose organizational work is done by a volunteer Board of Directors and a Parent Organization. Our paid staff is composed of four Conductors, an Executive Director, Executive Secretary, and music specialists.

Enrollment

In order for a student to participate in any of the SYS orchestras, he or she must first audition and be accepted into the ensemble. Click on Audition for more information.

The following forms are downloadable (see above),  and are required, with payment, prior to student participation in SYS rehearsals.

 NOTE: Those applying for Tuition Assistance need to include the Entrance Fee (SYO - $58, JSO & JO - $48, ISO - $38) with the Enrollment Form.

OR, turned in, at the latest, at the fall ORIENTATION MEETING, which will be held at the Spokane Masonic Center Commandery Room, September 13, 2008 at 12 noon. (NOTE: SYO students need to be enrolled by August 25th.)

Tuition Policy

The Spokane Youth Symphony organization is funded by grants, individual donations, concert attendance donations and admissions and group fundraising events. Our expenses include paid conductors, administrative staff, music specialists for workshops and sectionals, contributions for rehearsal space, rent for concerts, music, instruments, equipment, printing costs and general overall organizational expenses. We strive to be conservative with our expenditures while still dedicating our organization to providing an enriching educational opportunity for our members.
 

The tuition for the 2008-2009 season shall be as follows:

Intermediate String Orchestra

$310 per year (which includes entrance fee) or
$38 per month for 7 months after $38 Entrance Fee + $38 (Sept. tuition)
 

Junior Orchestra

$400 per year (which includes entrance fee) or
$48 per month for 7 months after $48 Entrance Fee + $48 (Sept. tuition)
 

Junior Symphonic Orchestra

$400 per year (which includes entrance fee) or
$48 per month for 7months after $48 Entrance Fee + $48 (Sept. tuition)
 

Spokane Youth Orchestra

$500 per year (which includes entrance fee) or
$58 per month for 7 months after $58 Entrance Fee + $58 (Sept. tuition)
 

Entrance Fee

Each member enrolling in any of the Spokane Youth Symphony orchestras, including tuition assistance recipients, orchestra aides, and security guards,  will be assessed an Entrance Fee equivalent to one (1) month's tuition for the orchestra in which the student is enrolling.  Entrance Fee is due with the first month (September's) tuition and payable by September 13, 2008.

The Entrance Fee for the 2008-2009 season shall be:

Intermediate String Orchestra

$38 due and payable at time of Orientation Meeting, + $38 First month’s tuition ($76)

Junior Orchestra

$48 due and payable at time of Orientation Meeting + $48 First month’s tuition ($96)

Junior Symphonic Orchestra

$48 due and payable at time of Orientation Meeting + $48 First month’s tuition ($96)

Spokane Youth Orchestra

$58 due and payable at time of Orientation Meeting + $58 First month’s tuition ($116)
 

The Entrance Fee will be assessed at the time of enrollment for members joining after September 13, 2008.

Full tuition may be paid at or before Orientation or at the time of enrollment. Or you may elect to pay entrance fee and first month’s (September) tuition, followed by seven (7) monthly payments - October 2008 through April, 2009. Monthly payments must be received by the 5th day of the month. A late fee of $15 will be assessed for each month the payment is not received .

Students enrolling late in the season will pay the Entrance Fee plus the monthly tuition for the month in which they are joining the orchestra and each month thereafter through April 2009.

 

 

Program Advertising

SYS orchestra members can receive a 20% commission by selling advertising in our season program. Just download and print the Program Ad Rate Sheet . This form with payment must be submitted by October 1, 2008.  Send to:
